Testimonials

I was glad to hear from Dr. Pace that you are doing Teachers College. I told him you are a genius.

— Henry Steinway

The name 'Drasche', for me, is almost synonymous with the name 'Steinway."

— Carol Rich, pianist

Our relationship with Drasche Pianos, which is nearly 20 years old now, has been terrific success. We recommend him to everyone and we wouldn't let anyone else touch our piano at this point.

— Tim & Barbara Pedley

Stephen Drasche is an expert craftsman, from a line of expert craftsmen who spent their working lives at the Steinway factory when the reputation of the firm was at its apogee. In a time of declining standards it is reassuring to know that I can always rely on his expertise and skill to keep my own Steinway, or any other piano, in top condition.

— Edwin Hymovitz, pianist

I know Stephen gets great satisfaction from the knowledge that his work brightens the lives of his customers because they can enjoy their pianos more fully. It's good that there are still a few technicians around who have the true Steinway sound in their ear so that when they are working on a piano, they have this sound to guide them.

— Gerald Ginsburg
Composer

I wish to thank you for the amazing job you did on repairing our Mason Hamlin piano. Many of us were not sure it could even be brought back to life. Not only did you bring it back to life but also we cannot believe it is the same piano we had sent out. The music teachers are ecstatic. When they played the piano they were thrilled with the sound. In addition the cases, which was a mess, looks wonderful. Throughout the entire process you were a pleasure to deal with. I felt I could ask you anything and get a straight and honest answer."

— Eve Eisenstadt, Ed.D.
Chairperson of the Arts,
Hunter College

I was very glad for your visit, which corrected an age-old problem in the action of my Steinway Model S. I also appreciated your quote for rebuilding the action and bringing it up to specs.

Since the keyboard is now much more resposive than it was, we would like to delay rebuilding it (your plan B), with new hammers, repetitions and bushings, for a few months. The more aggressive Plan A, which includes a new soundboard and pinblock, can wait for a year or two but should probably be done at some point, to a piano now over 70 years old

The important thing to point out is that no technician, either provided by Steinway or independently, ever calibrated the keyboard before to correct a chronic problem with sticking that has persisted for over forty years.

You did, and thanks very much.
